The Clone button is automatically disabled if the Template and Output files are the same, or if the Template file doesn't exist. I don't think there is any need to add a further restriction on these file specifications, since disablement of the Clone button is sufficient. I wasn't able to reproduce the problem you described, so my guess is that the reason you couldn't Clone was that the template file didn't exist. Otherwise, please let me know if you can supply a test case that reproduces the problem, and I'll be glad to look into it further.
